Limited-run: Only 2,025 Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25’s to be released.

Motorsport and timepieces have always been tightly wound. Rolex practically owns the 24 Hours of Le Mans. TAG Heuer is etched into F1’s brand fibre and Richard Mille hangs off the wrists of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc ever so naturally. So it’s no wonder that Tudor has released its all new Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” into South Africa, a track-inspired timepiece. The exterior is wrapped in carbon fibre, including the end links and pushers. The Carbon 25 is Tudor’s latest celebration of its long-standing connection to racing, this one made in collaboration with the Visa Cash App RB F1 Team.

Only 2,025 examples will be made, marking the 2025 F1 season. Watches of this ilk are indeed exclusive, first seen on the wrists of Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson at the Miami Grand Prix this year. The 42mm Carbon 25 boasts a COSC-certified MT5813 chronograph movement developed in partnership with Breitling that’s as bulletproof as they come. You get a 70-hour power reserve, a silicon balance spring for durability, and a column wheel with vertical clutch for silky chronograph movement.

Visually, the Black Bay Chronograph Carbon 25 channels its inner VCarb 02. The white dial is paired with carbon fibre sub-dials, and Tudor’s now-iconic snowflake hands. Thanks to the carbon fibre use, the watch is lighter than the stainless steel chronographs that come within the Black Bay range but it’s able to pull off the dinner jacket look just as well as at the VIP lounge at the races. Having spent some time with the Carbon 25, its light weight is really different to how many other watches feel. Of course, the limited-run means that the titanium back has the production number engraved within it.

A brief history of Tudor and Black Bay

Tudor, for those new to the name, is Rolex’s slightly less posh but no less capable cousin. Born in ‘26, the brand has long focused on rugged, value-driven timepieces built for real-world use. Considering Tudor’s storied history, the Black Bay range is relatively new, brought to market in 2012 as a modern day tribute to Tudor’s legendary dive watches. In the case of the Chrono “Carbon 25”, it’s a detour from the ocean floor, reimagined as a dive watch/racer mashup.
