Kia Motors has thrown its hat into the EV ring with the introduction of its new EV6 battery-powered vehicle. The new Kia EV6 is built on the brand’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform and it is influenced by the new design philosophy towards electrification.

The EV6 is the result of a collaborative effort between all three studios in Kia’s global design network in Namyang (Korea), Frankfurt (Germany), and Irvine (California, US).

In terms of design, the new EV6’s front ditches the familiar Tiger-nose grille in favour of the new Digital Tiger Face to make up for its electric stance. The front also comes fitted with sleek and modern daytime running lights and low air intakes.

It also features a sloping C-pillar that is reminiscent of a coupe. The rear, meanwhile, is bolstered with an LED light cluster that extends from the left to right rear fenders.

Inside, the new Kia EV6 is said to be spacious, thanks to the aforementioned E-GMP platform, which offers increased space. There is also a high-tech curved, high-definition audiovisual and navigation (AVN) screen, a two-spoke steering wheel plus heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls with haptic buttons.

There are slim and lightweight seats as well as fabrics made from recycled plastics as part of the vehicle’s sustainable mobility ethos. At this stage, there are no technical details of the new EV6, however, it is earmarked to make its official premiere this month during a special online event.
