Rimac Nevera R: When Nevera isn't powerful enough

Since its introduction in 2021, the Rimac Nevera has always been about proving its abilities in the world of performance cars. Best known for shattering records, it has been an absolute game changer that has the goods to take on the best of the best.

We knew the Croatian manufacturer was up to something when we noticed a bunch of spy images depicting a wicked new hypercar, and we can now confirm that indeed, it’s here. This is the new Nevera R, which, unlike the standard model, transforms into a redesigned hypercar for cornering performance, thus making it a formidable contender on both straightaways and twisty roads.

Getting straight to the gist of things, the Nevera R is an intriguing piece of kit. Only 40 units will be available globally. To save weight, each unit will have a new 108kWh battery pack that is lighter and more efficient than the 120kWh pack that's fitted to the standard version. There’s 1,571kW and 2,650Nm on tap, and that’s enough to catapult the hyper GT from 0-100km/h in 1.81 seconds, which matches the performance of the standard Nevera variant.

What’s more important here is the upgraded torque vectoring that splits power between the wheels for better handling and the 0-300km/h time of 8.66 seconds instead of the standard car’s 9.22 seconds, en route to a top speed of 412km/h. Now that’s fast.

With enormous power comes immense responsibility, so Rimac upgraded the brakes and installed new EVO2 carbon ceramic brakes with a silicone matrix layer.

The R boasts 21-inch rear wheels, 20-inch front alloy wheels, Michelin Cup 2 tyres, and a large fixed rear wing, making it appear lower and sleeker than the Nevera. In contrast, the Nevera R also boasts an aggressive aero package that includes a new large diffuser, which increases downforce by 15% and aerodynamic efficiency by 10%.

Rimac claims that the improvements and weight reduction of about 35kg have reduced the lap time around the Nardo Handling Track by 3.8 seconds.

The Nevera R launches in a stunning Nebula green exterior shade, while the interior has been updated with additional colour and trim options. The painted carbon features can match the exterior colour or be customised to the customer's choice.

The Rimac Nevera has arguably proved itself as one of the most compelling electric hypercars in existence. Its engaging driving experience, combined with its groundbreaking performance, sets it apart from the crowd. Now, with the introduction of the Nevera R, Rimac aims to elevate the electric hypercar game even further.
