Volvo C40 Recharge confirmed for SA
Touted to slot below the XC40 Recharge, Volvo has confirmed that its C40 Recharge model will join the local range of electrified Volvos in the first half of 2023.
Based on the CMA platform, the C40 is the first Volvo model in the history books of the Swedish carmaker to be designed as pure electric only. It forms part and parcel of the brand’s strategy towards a zero-emissions future, and unlike the XC40, it’s distinguished by the coupe-style sloping roofline.
The C40 Recharge is powered by a 78 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor on each axle. The battery pack gives the C40 Recharge a cruising range of up to 451 km on a single charge. Regarding the total power outputs, the electric motors pump out 300 kW and 660 Nm, which ensures a 4.7-second sprint to 100 km/h.
That aside, the C40 Recharge is the first Volvo model to have a leather-free interior, as it plans to become a fully circular business by 2040. Other interior features include the brand’s Android-powered touchscreen infotainment system with built-in Google apps and services.
Volvo South Africa will only announce the pricing and specifications of the C40 Recharge closer to its launch in the first half of 2023.
