First Maserati MC20 units touch down in Mzansi

Considered the first of its kind, Maserati South Africa is welcoming its very first units of the MC20 super sports car to local showroom floors.

Designed by Klaus Busse, whose wonderful design work can be traced back to the Alfa Romeo Tonale and Fiat Centoventi concepts, the new Maserati MC20 is built at the trident-branded marque’s Modena manufacturing plant in Italy.

Dressed in a multi-layer Bianco Audace shade, and further complemented by unique carbon fibre detailing, the first MC20 model has been delivered to its rightful owner. Accompanying it is the second model which is currently displayed at the Maserati House in Johannesburg.

“The Maserati MC20 welcomes a new era for Maserati, both globally and in South Africa. As a super sports car, the MC20 represents the pinnacle of performance and a return to Maserati-unique power plants with its Nettuno engine,” says Nagesh Naidoo, Dealer Principal of Maserati Johannesburg.

Every MC20 that’ll find a home across Mzansi has been designed and built exclusively to order. Customers are given the opportunity to spend time with the Maserati team in the Maserati Configuration Room to design and specify their model as per the Fuoriserie customisation programme. Buyers can also visit the Modena plant to see how their MC20 is being built.

Underneath its bonnet is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine with 463 kW and 729 Nm. Tipping the scales at 1,500 kg, the MC20’s 0-100 km/h acceleration is concluded in a brisk 2.8 seconds en route to a top speed of over 326 km/h.

The MC20 coupe will later be joined by the recently-revealed Cielo variant for those seeking to enjoy al fresco Italian flair as well as the Levante Hybrid and the new Maserati Grecale models.
