The Great Detour in the mighty Audi RS e-Tron GT Performance

What happens when you hand a journalist the keys to the most powerful Audi ever built and tell him absolutely nothing? No destination, no briefing, just a pin drop in Joburg at 06h00 and a cryptic card that reads more like a riddle than a route. Avon Middleton is sent on a three-day(that became four), clue-based road trip across South Africa in the Audi RS e-Tron GT Performance, armed with little more than a few lines of poetry, a friend with a dangerous command of random facts, and the kindness of strangers. Along the way he races a plane down a runway, hunts for a haunted Karoo village that seems to have misplaced a century, and stumbles onto a gin bar with a fitting name. Underneath it all sits a dual-motor, quattro all-wheel drive grand tourer with up to 680kW and 1,027Nm of torque, a car that clocked 267km/h on that runway. But is it the right companion for 1,944km of SA roads, wrong turns and painfully slow chargers? And is it worth R4.9 million? Watch the full adventure to find out.
