There’s a lot to like about it, especially when you look at what you get for your money.

Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max arrives in SA with a value-oriented price tag

As far as Chinese car manufacturers are concerned, the Chery brand has made impressive progress locally since its relaunch to the market in late 2021, and it continues to grow at an outstanding rate.

That said, Chery continues to impress local consumers with its affordability and value-for-money products—a formula that has worked wonders for the manufacturer since its relaunch in SA.

Speaking of growth, the Wuhu-based automaker isn’t resting on its laurels. It’s adding a new star in the local Tiggo 7 Pro range, the Pro Max, which is the flagship model in this series.

Many will likely agree that the Tiggo 7 Pro is already a pretty face, but the Pro Max amps it up aesthetically by adding a new grille with a diamond arrangement, polycarbonate weave with a dark gloss finish, chrome diamond-shaped lower sills, and updated side intakes.

The new Tiggo 7 Pro Max also adds new LED headlights, a full-width LED light strip, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloys for the 2WD Pro Max and 19-inch alloys for the AWD model.

The interior comes standard with a host of features, including a 24.6-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, voice control, an 8-speaker Sony audio system, a panoramic sunroof, a 50W wireless smartphone charging pad (upgraded from 15W), as well as a 360-degree camera.

Regarding safety features, the Tiggo 7 Pro Max comes standard with eight airbags instead of the six fitted in the regular Tiggo 7 Pro range. It also comes with ABS brakes, an ESC system, and ADAS for the Executive variant. The system equips the car with features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear collision warning, multi-collision braking, and lane-change assist.

The biggest addition is the 1.6-litre TGDI turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with 145kW and 290Nm of torque, instead of the 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit that is present in the standard Tiggo 7 models.

The powerplant is mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission that sends power to the front wheels in the case of the 2WD variants or to all fours for the AWD models with six intelligent driving modes: Normal, Sport, Eco, Snow, Mud, and Off-road.

For reference sake, the Tiggo 7 Pro models make use of a CVT transmission that channels power to the front wheels.

Priced at R529,900 for the Tiggo 7 Pro Max Distinction 2WD, R559,900 for the Executive 2WD, and R609,900 for the Executive AWD, the range is backed up by a 5-year/60,000km service plan and a 1-million-km/10-year engine warranty.

Since its launch, the Tiggo 7 Pro has been a global hit for Chery, with over 450,000 units sold. Out of those, more than 100,000 sales were from the Pro Max variant, which offers even more features, benefits, and better value for money.
