Lamborghini’s Fenomeno Roadster is the closest thing to a word for madness
Is there a name that best describes insanity in the automotive world? If none, Lamborghini might’ve coined the term ‘Fenomeno’. Its latest limited-run model, the Fenomeno Roadster, is absolute madness and one to look forward to.
Only 15 units will be built for deserving markets, each featuring a naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V12 hybridised engine with three electric motors. The plug-in hybrid delivers a staggering 794kW and 1,000 Nm, making it the most powerful convertible ever produced by Lamborghini. As an evolution of the Fenomeno Coupe of 2025, the Roadster is equally as fast, with a 0-100km/h sprint dispatched in 2.4 seconds en route to a top speed of 340km/h while shifting through an 8-speed DCT…with the roof down. Insane. The 7kWh lithium-ion battery also allows the Roadster to travel short distances without sipping any fuel, or produce any sound for that matter.
Unlike the Coupe, the Roadster features a completely new aerodynamic package to compensate for the missing roof. There’s an additional spoiler mounted on the windshield, which directs airflow over the cockpit into the new engine bay for better cooling and reduction in turbulence and vibrations. For that extra layer of protection, there are rollover bars that are also said to be aerodynamically efficient, reducing wind noise even at top speed.
It’s a stunning piece of kit, especially at the back, for us at least. There’s a futuristic stance here, with the high-mounted hexagonal exhaust staying true to the brand’s design ethos. Bridgestone has produced two premium tyres measuring 265/30 ZRF21 at the front and 355/25 ZRF22 at the back, specifically for this model.
As for the interior, Lamborghini says it embodies its ‘Feel Like a Pilot’ philosophy, thanks to carbon fibre splashed in various places, Cortex by Dinamica, a patented Carbon Skin material, three digital displays with hexagonal graphics, haptic buttons, and aviation-inspired switches.
Like the Revuelto, the Fenomeno sits on an aerospace-inspired monofuselage that Lambo says is extremely light and strong. In this way, the Roadster achieves the same level of stiffness and rigidity as the Coupe, with only a few added kilograms.
If Lamborghini coined ‘Fenomeno’ to describe something that defies all reason, the Roadster justifies it completely. Fifteen lucky buyers are about to find out what that feels like with the roof down.
