Limited Edition Mercedes-AMG A45 S wears the ‘Green Hell’

Unfortunately, aesthetics might not be enough.

Limited Edition Mercedes-AMG A45 S wears the ‘Green Hell’

Mercedes-AMG is no stranger to limited edition models. You may remember the Mercedes-AMG A45 S Edition 55 variants that were released in 2022 to commemorate the brand’s 55th anniversary?

This time around, the German marque has unveiled a limited edition A45 S model that packs stylish design elements, including the ‘AMG Green Hell Magno’ shade, making it the first model in the compact segment to sport a colour inspired by this iconic race track.

Sadly, the limited edition Mercedes-AMG A45 S you see here is exclusively for the German market, and chances of seeing one in SA are slim to none. Secondly, if you happen to be in the German region, it will cost you about €14,280, or a R292,745 premium over the regular models.

As for equipment, the Mercedes-AMG A45 S limited edition adds an AMG logo and a large ‘A45 S’ lettering on the doors and the AMG crest on the bonnet. These are further complemented by matte black 19-inch AMG forged wheels in a seven-twin-spoke design with a contrasting yellow colour for the rim spokes.

The wheels are home to AMG’s high-performance brake system, finished in glossy black with white AMG logos. Other exterior features include an exclusive fuel cap with the AMG logo and a light projector that illuminates the AMG coat of arms on the ground.

Included in the standard list are the AMG Night Package, the AMG Night Package II, and the AMG Aerodynamics Package.

Inside, the limited edition variant gets AMG performance seats wrapped in black with a combination of Artico man-made leather and Microcut microfibre, yellow decorative stitching in the seats, door panels, and instrument panel, and the ’45 S’ emblem on the front headrests.

As for the AMG performance steering wheel, it’s finished in leather/Microcut microfibre, while yellow decorative stitching, aluminium trim elements with AMG pattern, yellow AMG lettering, and AMG floor mats with ’45 S’ lettering add further appeal to the interior.

Under its hood beats the same and unchanged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with 310kW and 500Nm, enough to send the hot hatch from 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds before hitting maximum velocity at 270km//h while shuffling through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The limited edition A45 S, with its striking AMG Green Hell Magno exterior, certainly makes a visual statement. However, to truly distinguish this model as a special edition, it would be beneficial to couple its unique aesthetics with enhanced performance capabilities.

This would align the vehicle’s performance metrics with the expectations often associated with special edition models.
