Mini Clubman Final Edition: The Last of its Kind

Mini is going electric, and it plans to have 50% of its sales come from EVs by 2027 and have its entire range electrified by 2030.

So far, the EV lineup consists of the Mini SE hardtop and Convertible models, with the latter not destined for the SA market. That said, Mini is giving the Clubman a fitting send-off before electrification takes its course in the form of the introduction of the Final Edition model.

Mini says it will make 1,969 examples of the Clubman Final Edition (a reference to the original launch year of the Mini), and the local arm of the British marque has set aside only 10 units for the South African market.

The 131 kW Clubman Final Edition is painted in Nanuq White, Enigmatic Black or Melting Silver. Exterior details include surrounds, and the upper third of the radiator grille crossbar, shaded in shimmering edition colour.

It sits on 18″ light alloy wheels in a two-tone spoke design painted in a clear tinted lacquer. The special model also features the ‘Final Edition’ logo and the unit number of the 1969 total on the side of the C-pillar.

Inside, the Mini Clubman Final Edition emphasizes its unique nature, thanks to edition-specific door sill trims with the ‘Final Edition’ lettering, sports leather steering wheel in Nappa and Mini Yours leather sports seats with adjustable thigh support wrapped in Dark Maroon colour.

The interior features a dark dashboard trim framed by trim strips in matte shimmering Sage Green Dark colour and bespoke copper shade. On the passenger side, it further flaunts the unit number badge – the same badge has been applied to the floor mats. The Clubman Final Edition gets a standard 8.8″ touch display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone pairing.

As stated, only ten units have been put aside for South African customers, and all are earmarked to reach dealership floors in the fourth quarter of the year.

If things go according to plan, the Mini Clubman could resurrect soon powered by an all-electric powertrain. This is indeed the end.
