Spied Mercedes-AMG G63 gets ready for a subtle facelift

With all the changes, at least it seems to retain its V8 blaring sound.

There have been countless speculations regarding the future of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and while the EQG that was shown last year is still in its conceptual state, we best believe the G Wagon is still around for the foreseeable future, however short that may be.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is yet to go to the surgeon’s room for its mid-cycle nip and tuck modifications but it has been spotted testing in its AMG G63 glory, giving us but a glimpse of what can be expected.

For now, the side exhaust tips still prove that the combustion engine soldiers on and there is no clear indication that the refreshed model will be electrified. Electrification is a major topic for the Stuttgart folks so the updated Mercedes-AMG G63 could pair the 4.0-litre V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

The engine in its natural state spews out 430 kW and 850 Nm of torque, however, the facelifted model could potentially make more than that.

Looking at the spied photographs, the new Mercedes-AMG G63 will spawn a new front fascia, new rear bumper and reworked taillights that could be more pronounced.

Little is known at this stage but we expect it to make its first public appearance before the end of the year and hit showroom floors in 2023.
