When you’ve achieved four world titles at the pinnacle of racing, what’s your next move? Max Verstappen has caused quite a stir in the media over the last few years. He did this not only with his keen interest in endurance racing but also with his sheer dominance. This time, he aims for the top spot at one of the world’s most iconic endurance races: the ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring. His goal? Dethrone one of South Africa’s fastest drivers, Kelvin van der Linde, who was one quarter of the 2025 winning outfit.
Last year, a Red Bull Ferrari 296 GT3 unexpectedly emerged, surpassing competitors at the Nürburgring Endurance Series with Verstappen behind the wheel. Effectively, he secured his GT3 licence and won his first outing. The statement was clear: the man has talent pouring out of his ears in anything with four wheels. Now the main Nürburgring event is approaching, and Max is behind the wheel of something unexpected.
As the 24h of Nürburgring approaches (14th-17th of May 2026), Red Bull did what it does best: Unnecessarily impressive car reveals. This time, a base jump from a cooling tower set the scene, unveiling a Mercedes-AMG GT3 with the bright Red Bull Verstappen Racing banner. It looks epic, and it’s clear Red Bull is itching to race.
It’s expected that Verstappen will arrive with a strong sense of confidence, bolstered by his three teammates, Jules Gounon, Lucas Auer, and Daniel Juncadella. But the competition remains fierce, as he will be taking on the Manthey Porsches, ABT Sportline Audis and ROWE Racing WRT BMWs.
The 24h of Nürburgring set a record last year with 280k attendees, and we expect the event to draw even bigger crowds this year. Max will have his work cut out for him, and we know it will be 100% from the start despite his looming F1 calendar. It will be a race to remember, and we will be keeping a close eye on the blue and red AMGs as they look to shake up the establishment.
