Isuzu mu-X revival

The second-gen mu-X has been confirmed for a 2021 local launch

It’s time to get those cheque books ready because Isuzu South Africa has announced the arrival of the second-generation mu-X later this year.

The new Isuzu mu-X will be built at the brand’s Samrong facility in Thailand and will then be imported into the local market.

According to Dominic Rimmer, Senior Vice President Technical Operations, “the mu-X has undergone rigorous testing under a number of conditions to ensure it is suitable for the local market.

While there is still very little information known at this stage, the new mu-X will boast updated driver assistance technology, powertrains, plus a reworked interior with seating for up to seven passengers. Other features will include the latest infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. “We are steadily on track to launch the next generation Isuzu mu-X in South Africa,” adds Rimmer.

In preparation for the arrival of Isuzu’s newest member, the marque has started with dealer technical training for its technicians who will be responsible for servicing and maintaining the mu-Xs.

More information pertaining to the new Isuzu mu-X will be made available prior to its local launch.
