Maserati Project24: An irate track car with Italian flair

Pretty much like what the Squadra Corse Huracan GT3 EVO2 racer is to the Lamborghini marque, Maserati has revealed sketches of its track-only Project24 model, which is based on the MC20.

Off the bat, the Maserati Project24 packs a 3.0-litre Nettuno V6 with 552 kW of power instead of the 463 kW produced by the road-legal MC20. It’s further equipped with a 6-speed sequential racing gearbox with paddle shifters, racing clutch, and limited-slip self-locking mechanical differential.

The Project24 features a new look, thanks to Centro Stile Maserati designers who penned the racer to have an aggressive stance on the track. It comes fitted with all-new carbon-fibre bodywork with specific components in natural fibres, high-performance aerodynamics, a multi-adjustable front and rear wing, front LED lights, and an FIA-approved rain light. Plus, it has Lexan front and side windows.

The new Project24 runs around the track with bespoke forged 18″ alloys with centre-lock system fittings wrapped in slick tyres for extra grip. These are home to racing callipers with Brembo CCMR ventilated racing brakes with bespoke brake cooling.

To conform to FIA safety requirements, the Project24’s suspension is fitted with a double-wishbone with a semi-virtual steering axis, adjustable racing dampers plus adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars.

When servicing or changing tyres during track days, the 1,250 kg Project24 can be lifted on a set of on-board air jacks.

Regarding the interior, the new Maserati Project24 has an adjustable racing pedal box, adjustable steering column, adjustable racing ABS and traction control, 6-point racing safety belt, and multi-functional carbon-fibre steering wheel, steering wheel with built-in display and dash and data acquisition system.

Other optional features include a passenger seat, rear-view camera display, telemetry recording, in-car camera for video recording, driving performance optimisation display, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Only 62 units of the Maserati Project24 will be built and buyers will have exclusive access to track events.
