The new Audi A3 is here. Well, almost

SA launch of the Audi A3 just days away and there's quite a bit to be excited about

Audi South Africa is finally introducing its fourth-gen of its A3 Sportback and second-generation sedan to Mzansi.

The new A3 range will officially go on sale from the 1st of August 2021 and will be available in three trim levels; Standard, Advanced and S Line.

Both variants feature the fresh new design worn by Audi’s latest products. The Standard variant is fitted with 16″ alloy wheels and black detailing around the grille and air intakes.

The Advance model adds 17″ wheels with chrome detailing on the exterior bits as well as Advanced Line bumpers. The range-topping S Line spawns a tweaked bumper, sports suspension, illuminated door sills that embody the S insignia as well as an S-style spoiler for the Sportback.

The new A3 can be fitted with optional Matrix LED headlights.

The new Audi S3 boasts additional design cues to make up for its sporty nature. It sports a large rhombus-patterned grille, aluminium exterior mirrors, large rear diffuser, four exhaust tips, 19″ wheels, red brake callipers, S model-specific bumpers plus suspension tweaks.

The new A3 Sportback has grown thanks to an increase in dimensions. It now measures 4.34 m in length and 1.82 m in width. The sedan has also grown by 15 cm in length compared to its predecessor and is credited with a boot space that measures 425 litres with 380 litres that can be expanded to 1,200 litres for the Sportback.

Inside, the new Audi A3 is fitted standard with a 10.1″ touch display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a multifunction steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. Offered as options is an Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus that measures 12.3″.

Only two engine options are available from launch; an entry-level 1.4 TFSI with 110 kW and a 2.0 TFSI with 140 kW of power. The former model employs an 8-speed tiptronic transmission while the latter houses a 7-speed S tronic transmission.

The performance S3 model is powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI engine that spews 213 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque and is mated to a 7-speed S tronic transmission. It hurtles from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds before hitting its limited top speed at 250 km/h.

Like other models across the Audi range, the new A3 can be ordered with the package concept that includes upgrades; (LED lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming mirror, rear parking aid) Technology (Audi virtual cockpit plus, MMI navigation plus, Audi connect navigation & infotainment, rear USB ports with charging function) Sports (black styling exterior elements, black mirrors, 18′ wheel, sports suspension) S line interior (armrest in leatherette, centre armrest, S emblems, black headliner fabric, stainless steel pedals, sports seats, decorative inserts in dark aluminium.
