Toyota celebrates Nürburgring success with special edition

While we are waiting for the GR Corolla, Toyota has added a Nürburgring-inspired model to its Thailand-only Corolla Altis range.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Thailand recently took two class victories at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2020 and 2021 with a spiced up Corolla Altis.

To celebrate these milestones, Toyota is beefing up the Corolla Altis with a Nürburgring-inspired set of accessories and calling it the Corolla Altis Nürburgring Edition. To differentiate it from the normal models, it features ‘Corolla Nürburgring 24’ insignias on the front fenders.

It sits slightly lower than the normal model thanks to stiffer springs and while there is no power boost, it is fitted with an accelerator control box that enhances the throttle inputs.

Aesthetically, the Thailand-only Toyota (Corolla) Altis Nürburgring Edition is fitted with a body kit that resembles that of the race car. These include a tweaked front bumper that features a split lower grille, styled “air vents” on the rear bumper plus a bigger diffuser at the back.

Other body modifications include deep front, side and rear skirts and a boot spoiler.

The Toyota Corolla Nürburgring Edition is available in two engine options; a 1.8-litre petrol engine with 102 kW and a hybridised unit with 90 kW of power. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a CVT transmission.

The Toyota Corolla Nürburgring Edition is strictly for the Thailand market and we continue to wait for the brutal Corolla GR to be introduced locally.
