Porsche Marks Le Mans Centenary With Special 911 GTS Model

For brand fans, this will surely be a tough one to resist.

Porsche Marks Le Mans Centenary With Special 911 GTS Model

The Porsche brand is no stranger to the motorsport arena, especially the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in which it has been competing without interruption since 1951.

Since then, the brand has emerged victorious with 19 overall victories and 110 class wins with iconic models such as the 917, 956, 962 and the 911 GT1.

Following the reveal of the Prius GR Edition that Toyota has built to celebrate 100 years of Le Mans, Porsche is the latest manufacturer to celebrate the iconic event with an exclusive model that carries the 911 Carrera GTS Le Mans Centenaire Edition nameplate.

Inspired by two winning cars, the 366 SL and the 911 GT1 ’98, the special edition model is based on the 911 Carrera GTS variant and fitted with exclusive equipment to compensate for its rarity.

It wears 24h Le Mans insignia, a laurel wreath design on the rear lid grille, a badge with the Le Mans track outline in French tricolour, and the anniversary lettering on the B-pillar.

Other notable features include the ‘Born in Le Mans, Manufactured in Zuffenhausen’ decorative decal on the rear, which we find rather attractive.

It wears a Le Mans Silver Metallic shade that is exactly the same as the race-winning 356 SL as part of the ‘Paint to Sample Plus’ programme. It also gets the starting number ’46’ on the exterior and rims given the Aurum gold treatment.

Like the iconic racer, the interior is kitted with Graphite Blue leather and corduroy. It adds a GT sports steering wheel in Graphite Blue leather and red seat belts that remind us of the ’98 911 GT1.

The centre armrest, headrests and door sills feature additional ’24h Le Mans’ logos, racetrack insignias, and the model name.

Owners will receive a key pouch and a car cover in Graphite Blue.

Mechanically, this unique model remains unchanged. It still houses the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine with 352 kW of power and 569 Nm of torque. It’s available either with a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed PDK transmission.

This special 911 GTS is not just a great sports car out of the box, but with its special edition features, it will definitely catch the attention of serious collectors.
