The Eden Classics Motor Show is fast approaching
For many South Africans, a Sunday out perusing around rare and beautiful cars is about as good as it gets, but the team at Eden Classics is taking a Sunday car meet to a new level. With the stunning backdrop of the Garden Route, their next show will settle in Sedgefield, and they have a rather patriotic lineup in store.
As the event draws near, we take a moment to preview some of the vehicles that will be showcased, many of which feature a distinctive South African story. This brings me to a Gqeberha-based manufacturer responsible for the best Shelby replicas in the world, Hi-Tech Automotive. It’s a manufacturer that specialises in reimagining rare icons, but it has also ventured into the world of supercars. The AC 378 Zagato is such a car, with only a few in existence and a unique design; it’s certain to captivate a few showgoers.
Another Hi-Tech machine to grace the Eden Classics Motor Show is the mid-engine Rossion Q1. It’s a rather intriguing story, as the Rossion’s DNA stems from the Hi-Tech Noble M400. It’s a supercar design for track days, thought up by a Brit and built right here in SA. When production began to slow for the M400, the intellectual rights to the car were sold to Rossion Automotive in the States. It was here where 300 engineering adaptations were made, specifically around the cooling of the engine, and the name Rossion Q1 was added. But a unit made its way back home and will be on show at this year’s event.
Alongside these stunning South African supercars is a selection of sporty coupes and roadsters, each with its own South African narrative. Among others, GSM Flamingo coupe, and FMM Puma will make an appearance at this event. These stunning classics, each with an intriguing local heritage, have been restored to show-ready condition.
The Eden Classics Motor Show is bound to have many serious performance cars and iconic classics, but it’s refreshing to see a focus on our local stories. Few people might have heard of these cars, but their inspiring stories and presence are ones you won’t want to miss out on.
Tickets will be available at R70 per adult, and gates will open at 10am on the 6th of July 2025. The event is a part of the Knysna Oyster Festival, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity.
