Aston Martin is not giving up on the V12 just yet

The new Vanquish is possibly underway, and at its heart is a twin-turbocharged V12.

Aston Martin is not giving up on the V12 just yet

Though there have been phases of electrification, hybridisation, and downsizing, Aston Martin isn’t ready to give up on its storied engines just yet. It may only happen once in a generation, but Aston Martin’s all-new Vanquish has the potential to become a legend.

Arguably the most exciting item in this announcement is the engine, Aston Martin’s all-new twin turbocharged V12. Just when we thought the V12 was a dying breed, we get this incredible stand against downsizing from one of our favourite exotic brands by continuing its 25-year V12 bloodline.

The new twin-turbocharged V12 is a potent unit, producing a healthy 614kW and 1,000Nm of torque. This new engine, inspired by previous Aston V12s, features a strengthened cylinder block, conrods, redesigned cylinder heads, and camshafts, as well as new intakes and exhaust outlets, allowing for these impressive power figures.

Aston has expressed its excitement for the new era of V12s, and its excitement is shared among enthusiasts. Unfortunately, this new flagship, due to debut towards the end of the year, will be in limited numbers and likely only available to a limited clientele.

Aston has also stated that its new flagship will maintain its ultra-luxury pedigree and will be the talk of the town when it arrives. Add the V12 roar to the equation, and we are all in for an auditory treat. Now it hasn’t been confirmed that the new flagship will be the new iteration of the Vanquish, but Aston made sure to add “All will be vanquished” to their V12 announcement, which rather boldly leads us to assume that this new model will hold the original Vanquish nameplate.
